Dance trained from an early age, I successfully auditioned for the Northern Ballet School, the first to do so in Tameside. I gained my teaching certificates in Classical Ballet and Tap Dancing, self-funded, at The Constance Grant Dance Centre, Sheffield with the guidance of Miss Judith Sylvester, becoming an Associate with the International Dance Teachers Association. During my professional career as a dancer and teacher spanning 22 years, my students ranged from the ages of 3 to 75 year young, both for my established dancing school in Tameside and then later at a prestigious ballet and drama school in Yorkshire.

After leaving the dancing profession due to personal injuries I took up yoga at The Hayloft in Stalybridge and The Manchester & District Iyengar Institute of Yoga and went on to study with the British Wheel of Yoga gaining certificates for both Foundation One and Two courses. I went on to complete my yoga training with the British School of Yoga in 2008, passing with Exceptional Merit. I completed an additional teacher training course spanning 18 months with the International School of Dru Yoga in November 2012 and have since joined the Manchester Dru Yoga teaching team teaching, assessing and mentoring students

I frequently attend Continued Personal Development (CPD) programmes around the country in many subjects linked to yoga as a stipulation to retain my teaching qualifications and valid.

I created Tranquility Yoga in 2007 which is a fusion of the many styles of yoga I have studied. I call it “Yoga Soup”. Classes are held in and around the Tameside area at privately run and community gyms, church halls, private groups & within schools. Tranquility Yoga is for all ages and abilities, from power yoga to chair yoga and everything in between. Workshops on various aspects of yoga such as Detoxing, Chakras, Meditation specific health issues and yoga for the seasons are held throughout the year.
